Don’t you think Facebook is one of the modern day equivalents of going to the pub to socialise? I remember when someone wanted to know the gossip about the woman down the street or they wondered if the girl who was pregnant had the baby yet, they would go out down the street (normally in a pair of slippers) and they would speak to every person they went past, followed by speaking with the informative shop keeper. By the time they got back to the house they knew what everyone in the village was up to. Now we simply log into facebook and check what they have on their status update or what is written on their wall. Times have changed. Perhaps we are not losing the art of socialising but just socialising in a different way. To socialise people crowded into the local pub, pubs were heaving, bulging out of the doors. Unfortunately for landlords, gone are those days. People now sit at home and write on Facebook. Its cheaper, you don’t need to find a babysitter, you can still drink and you can smoke if you wish to do so. Maybe they should re-name Facebook to Facepub, Cheers.
