Cor-Ten and Solar Facade Seminar

Recently we organised a number of seminars for steel manufacturer and cladding and roofing supplier Ruukki. These seminars will be held over several dates in Birmingham at Ruukki UK Ltd and in London at the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). There will be a breakfast, lunch and afternoon session available where refreshments will be provided, samples available to take away and a chance to enter into a draw to win a pair of tickets to the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March 2012. Deligates will be able to take away a sample of unweathered Cor-ten steel for them to place outside and weather themselves. Manage your website from your mobile phone

We were asked to provide our client with a solution for him to manage his website whilst on the go. This builder was out working on his projects and wanted to let his customers know what he was working on and what he is able to offer but didn’t have time to take a camera, download the photos and then upload them to his website. He wanted to take a picture on his mobile phone and then send it directly to his web page. As we had built his website using WordPress, we were able to quickly add this facility to his website, solving his problem imediately. We set up his mobile phone and then gave a short tutorial about managing his website from his phone.

Join Google Plus

The recently launched Google Plus site is still being developed however, it is now open for people to join. You will need an invite from an existing member to join until its open for everbody. Marrieanne Pal, Managing Director from Paws is already using the new facility and can be found at http://gplus.to/marrieanne

Once you have a profile you can also make a personalised url address to make it easier for people to find you. You can set this up at http://gplus.to/

Google plus is a great tool for sharing between family, friends, colleagues, business associates and everyone else. There will also be a business profile coming later this year, until then the profiles are only personal.

Get in the mix

Social media is a great tool if used in the correct way. There are so many different channels available and its very easy to get confused and give up before you’ve even begun. Don’t despair, its worth your time and perseverance to set up a profile and some basic information and start networking. Probably the most common sites are Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Linkedin and Digg. All have a slightly different purpose, some to share photos and chat with friends, others to network with business contacts and others just for fun. There are no rules as to what you use social media for, its up to you. Its probably best to learn how to use a few after experimenting with some sites, stick to the ones you like best and feel comfortable with. By using just a few effectively is much better than using lots and not getting the most out of them.

Once you have begun regularly using a few sites, for those that require an status update or comment, you may find it easier to write a comment once in a site that automatically updates all your assigned profiles. Some sites to try are hootsuite, tweetdeck or ping.fm.

You may also find it useful to use the same username or profile name for all your social media sites that you are going to register with, you can check if your prefered name is available at namechk.

If you are not already using any social websites, then give it a try.

RCI magazine Paws for thought

RCI (Roofing Cladding and Insulation magazine) published a press release in their September 2009 Issue. As Marrieanne Pringle (now Marrieanne Pal), Managing Director, is from a background in the construction industry there is still a strong connection with that market and Paws Interactive also has several clients from the contruction sector. The press release was not only to promote the company but to show others in the industry that success can be made even in the difficult economic times we face.

Construction Marketing Award

Marrieanne Pringle (Now Marrieanne Pal), Managing Director of Paws Interactive has recently been presented with a marketing award. The award was presented in the New Connaught Rooms, London. It was a high commendation award for best in-house marketing team.

Marrieanne was also Marketing Communications Manager for Ruukki UK Ltd, and it was within this role that she entered for the award.
